By Suhail Anjum (Translated from Urdu by Arman Neyazi, NewAgeIslam.com) When one gets thirsty for the bold of one’s near and dear ones, one must feel obliged to wonder what kind of sickness has entered one’s soul. What kind of revenge it is that impels you to kill your own? It is natural to question what kind of a Jihad is being waged when the suicide bombers strike Muslims in mosques, religious congregations, peaceful residential colonies and common thoroughfares and kill them. Which form of a jihad it is which is writing a history of these tyrannical stories? The “Mujahedeens”, “Ghazis” (religious warriors) and “the Martyrs” are bathing in the blood of their own brothers and sisters, in religion, to avenge the killing of Osama bin Laden, founder and guide of Al Qaeda. According to a rough estimate more than 100 (actually close to 200 now) Muslims have been killed so far. But the thirst does not seem to have been quenched. The fire of revenge seems to be burning bright. One tends to think, is it a work of ‘God’s blessings’ to commit suicide, to be tyrannical and to lay one’s own life as a suicide bomber? Are they followers of the Islam which had prohibited any attack on unarmed people, which had exhorted that Muslims should safeguard women, children, old and ill, which had asked to provide shelter to the homeless and which had forbidden to speak ill of other religions? The question comes to mind, is this real Islam which Al Qaeda and other such organizations are preaching? The followers of these organizations consider violating and contradicting these guidelines of Islam as the real Islam. Americans killed Osama and Osama’s followers are avenging his killing by killing the followers of Islam! As it is this blood bath is continuing since 9/11 which was followed by American army’s invasions of Muslim lands. “Mujahideens” of al Qaeda are engaged in killing those they consider violating the original tenets of Islam. For that matter innumerable people have lost their lives in various countries including India but the scene of killing and the blood bath in Pakistan has no precedent in history. More or less thirty-five thousand Muslims have lost their lives in Jihadi suicide bombings after 9/11. But there is no end in sight. For all these killings of innocent people both the so called Jihadis and the ones who are reciprocating are responsible. The fact remains that Islam is ashamed of its own name and existence today. We are compelled to see our near and dear ones being used as suicide bombers. We have not forgotten the time when two Islamic countries used to exploit innocent children and youngsters as suicide bombers with a promise of an eternal life in heaven in return. The flag of Jihad is being hoisted even when there is no war between Islam and Kufr today. In this one- sided war against the military power these Jihadis are seeking to enter heaven killing their own people! Various organization like Al Qaeda, Taliban, Jama’t ud-Dawa, Lashkar-e- Jhangwi, Sipah e Sahaba, Tahreek jafria, Pakistan, Tahreek e Nefad e Shariat Muhammadi, Sunni Tahreek and Sipah e Muhammad, Pakistan, are responsible for these killings. These are one and the same organization being run on different letter pads. What can only be called contractors of Islam are bringing bad name to Islam with their blood bath. They have also brought shame to Jihad. They have made humanity ashamed through their activities. It is because of them that the Muslims all over the world are taken as terrorist. And wherever there is a terrorist activity all eyes go on to the Muslims. What kind of wisdom is it that they are killing their own brothers? If America, Britain and the West are their enemy why are the innocent Muslims being targeted? What kind of revenge is it that the innocent Muslims are being killed by both sides? Al Qaeda and other such organizations are the brain child of America and the West. They are used for their own benefit first and then they are abandoned. In both these actions it is the innocent Muslims who are killed. And the best thing is that the Killers take themselves to be the Muslims of the first century Hijri (Qarn-e- Oola). The people running these organizations have become so blind in their vengeance that they are not even able to see that they are killing their own brethren in this war. Anyhow, the people who think that these killings will stop after Al Qaeda gets finished are day dreaming. The enmity with the West will remain and the war against it is not going to stop that easily. What is needed is to go along with the developments of the modern day. Muslims will have to shed their conservatism and come out of their excessive emotionalism. This is an age of Information Technology and if the Muslims wish they can take its advantage and get busy in preaching [Tableegh] of Islam.
