According to a received reports from Pakistan, ignorant Talibani Wahhbais attacked to a small town belong to Shia sects, in Shiluzan, Pakistan, on Friday and killed 2 Shia Muslims, burnt their houses and mosques.
Our source in the area said that Taliban militants intended to capture the village in just 2 or 3 hours, but the jealous Shia defender foiled their barbaric attacks in 4 to 5 hours.
Nevertheless the insurgent Wahhabis attacked again Yesterday to the village and killed more than 6 innocent Shia Muslims including a woman who came out her house to protect her small baby.
The flame of war in the area is very high.
It is said that from Friday early morning till today 17 innocent Shia Muslims have been martyred by American Wahhabis stooge.
In US, some stupid people burnt the paper of the Holy Quran which provoked the feel of thousands Muslims across the World, BUT every day in Pakistan, Taliban and Wahhabis are killing and massacring innocent people, burning their homes and mosques, tearing their holy Books, But nobody say Just a Word to Condemn their barbaric acts.

At least 15 persons, including a woman and a 13-year-old schoolboy, were killed in Kashmir Valley on Monday as reports of Quran desecration in the US stoked anger in the embattled Valley. A policeman was run over by a lorry carrying protesters in Budgam while a missionary school was burned down in Tangmarg along with dozens of other Government buildings. Scores of ambulances were zooming around premier hospitals in Srinagar escorting injured and dead.
Tens of thousands of people defied curfew in every major town of the Valley to stage protest demonstrations. “It was just like the 1989 demonstrations in Kashmir when people took to street. People were chanting slogans from rooftops of buses and small vehicles and inside lorry compartments and tractor trolleys,” said Ishaq Ahmad in south Kashmir’s Tral pocket.
The situation worsened in the Valley on Monday morning following Iran’s state-run Press TV’s telecast showing desecration of holy Quran in the US. Soon, people defied curfews and took to streets, chanting anti-India and anti-US slogans and burnt effigies of US President Barack Obama.
The State Government banned broadcast of Press TV and all local cable news channels.
“The transmission of Press TV in Jammu & Kashmir has been banned with immediate effect,” State Chief Secretary SS Kapur told reporters here.
He said the move was prompted after reports of the alleged sacrilege. Besides, the channel was not registered with the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry as required by the law.
“We believe there is a game-plan....We appeal to the good sense of the people in Kashmir. Please don’t take law into your own hands in this matter. Please cooperate with the administration,” he said.
The maximum casualties took place in central district Budgam where police and paramilitaries opened fire to quell a strong protest demonstration. Five civilians, including a woman, Rafeeqa, were killed in the firing at Magam and Humhama pockets of the district. Sources said that a police constable, Davinder Singh, was run over by a lorry carrying protesters. He died on the spot.
An angry mob set fire to several Government buildings and a Protestant-run missionary school in Tangmarg pocket of Baramulla district, 35 kilometres from Srinagar. The missionary school is the rural wing of the Valley’s oldest Tyndale Biscoe school. Three persons have reportedly died in Tangmarg during the clashes.
The latest deaths have taken the toll in the Valley to 85 since June 11.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hurriedly called a Cabinet meeting to take stock of the law and order situation in different parts of the State. The Cabinet condemned the alleged acts of desecration of holy Quran and expressed its complete understanding of the genuinely hurt sentiments of the people on this account. Two Cabinet Ministers, Ali Muhammad Sagar and Ghulam Hassan Mir, appealed to people to exercise maximum restraint over the condemnable desecration scenario. Chief Secretary SS Kapur and DGP Kuldeep Khoda also extended fervent appeals to the people to maintain calm.
The Cabinet, however, appealed to the people not to take law into their own hands while staging protests against the alleged incidents of desecration of holy Quran which “result in an avoidable loss of life and property”.
The authorities had imposed Curfew in Srinagar and other major towns on Sunday following massive protests and burning of public property on Id-ul-Fitr on Saturday. The State Government filed FIRs against moderate separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for inciting violence and misleading the Government on guaranteeing peaceful protests.
Sources said four persons, including a teenage boy, were killed and more than 40 injured during the clashes at Pampore and Anantnag in South Kashmir. The deceased have been identified as Ajaz Ahmed Wagay, Riyaz Ahmed and Muzafar Ahmed Mir. In Anantnag, a schoolboy, Maroof Ahmad Naath, allegedly plunged into Jhelum to escape the chasing security personnel. His body was not fished out till late in the evening.
Police and security forces also fired automatic weapons and resorted to extensive use of non-lethal pressure guns to disperse mobs at Bandipora, Chrar-e-Sharief, Lethpora (Awantipora), Tral, Parimpora and Machuwa localities.
Meanwhile, separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz mar Farooq have condemned the “unbridled use of power” by the authorities to quell protests in Kashmir. The two leaders, who are spearheading an anti-India campaign in the valley, have been put under house arrest.

AMERICA HAS opened a new war at Ground Zero — against itself.
Tearful ceremonies in New York marking the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks were part of an annual ritual meant to bring the country together.
This time, though, the mournful music was barely over in New York before unity disintegrated into an angry debate between thousands of demonstrators.
The issue was whether a proposed Islamic cultural centre should be built, as planned, two blocks from Ground Zero.
Tensions flared in New York on Saturday as rival demonstrations over what has come to be known as the ‘ Ground Zero mosque’ overshadowed a day of mourning to mark the ninth anniversary of the attacks.
On Saturday, two marches were taking place just a few blocks apart, one in support of the mosque and the other in protest against it.
The rival demonstrations began shortly after the families of 9/ 11 victims held moving ceremonies to remember loved ones killed in the attacks nine years ago.
Many voiced their anger at the demonstrations and called for “ sombre reflection” instead of what has become the most divided September 11 anniversary yet.
Shortly after the ceremonies, a large crowd of pro- mosque activists lined next to City Hall before marching to an area near Ground Zero.
Elizabeth Meehan, a 51- year- old Christian from Saratoga, New York, said: “ I’m really fearful of all of the hate that’s going on in our country. People in one brand of Christianity are coming out against other faiths, and I find that so sad.” “ Muslims are fellow Americans; they should have the right to worship in America just like anyone else.” “ But 9/ 11 must not be a time for protest and division,” she added.
The event was largely peaceful, except for occasional exchanges with antimosque passers- by. One man walked by holding a poster that said, “ Stop Obama’s Mosque”, while another held a more provocative sign with a Quran attached.
At the anti- mosque rally nearby, some participants wore clothing featuring stars and stripes, and some carried signs with messages including “ It stops here” and “ Never forgive, never forget, no WTC mosque”.
“ My grandparents didn’t expect special treatment. They didn’t fly planes into buildings,” said Theresa Angelo, 57, from Queens. “ No other culture does that. This is hallowed ground. It’s something like Gettysburg or Pearl Harbor.
Why did they have to do it here? Be a little sensitive.” Anti- Islam Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who advocates banning the Quran and taxing Muslim women who wear head scarves, planned to address the crowd in person, along with a handful of Republican congressional candidates who have made opposition to the mosque a centerpiece of their campaigns.
Earlier, family members gathering New York, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon brought flowers, pictures of their loved ones and American flags as the victims’ names were read out.
Karen Carroll, who lost her brother, firefighter Thomas Kuveikis, said: “ It’s a day to be sombre; it’s a day to reflect on all those thousands of people that died for us in the United States.” Alyson Low, of Arkansas, held a photo of her sister Sara beside the words: “ Today is ONLY about my sister and the other innocents killed nine years ago.” Another woman criticised pastor Terry Jones for adding to the “ burden” suffered by families who lost their loved ones.
Patricia Bingley, whose son Kevin Dennis worked in the World Trade Center, said: “ We have enough burden to bear without having to listen to this crank, as I call him, threatening to burn a very sacred book belonging to the Islamic community.” But controversial pastor Jones, who drew global outrage for his plans to torch copies of Quran, vowed that he will never do so. “ We will definitely not burn the Quran, no. Not today, not ever,” pastor Jones of Florida said. “ We feel that God is telling us to stop.”

US Christian leader flays attempts to malign Islam

JEDDAH: An American Christian leader has emphasized the need to stop the current wave of anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States, urging Christians to talk to Muslims rather than about them and to accurately follow the teachings of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him).
“Like the Bible, the predominant message of the Qur’an is peace, care, loving of God and care for the neighbor,” said Rev. Deborah Lindsay, minister of the First Community Church in Columbus, Ohio.
In a recent sermon, Lindsay highlighted the dangerous effect of spreading hate, referring to the recent knifing of a cab driver in New York City after a customer learned that the driver was a Muslim.
“This is a matter of life and death, and we should take it seriously,” she said, referring to the need to ratchet down the rhetoric.
The debate surrounding the proposed Park51 Islamic community center, two blocks away from Ground Zero in Manhattan, has played a large role in the recent surge in anti-Muslim speech in the US by opponents of the constitutionally protected religious and community center.
The pastor of a small right-wing church organization in Gainsville, Florida called off his threat to burn copies of the Holy Qur’an on Sept. 11, but some copy-cat incidences were reported, including an unidentified man who burned pages of the Holy Qur’an on Saturday near Ground Zero just blocks away from where families of 9/11 victims were mourning the deaths of their loved ones. Protests for and against the mosque raged on Saturday, competing for media attention with the somber, annual interfaith memorial of mourning families.
In Gainsville, police reportedly confiscated a lighter and a copy of the Holy Qur’an that a 29-year-old attempted to burn after learning that the pastor backed down from his threat while Rev. Larry Reimer, pastor of the United Church of Gainesville, told the New York Times that the bad press caused by the pastor is “frustrating” because it has sullied the reputation of the city.
In her sermon, Rev. Lindsay pointed out that attacking other faiths is not a Christian value.
“I can assure you that there is nothing in the Gospel and nothing in the teachings of Jesus Christ about burning holy texts of other traditions,” she said.
The reverend called the anti-Islam rhetoric of the Gainsville pastor “disparaging, insulting and inaccurate,” adding that Jesus Christ would never approve of the pastor’s actions and words. She praised American churches and the National Association of Evangelicals for condemning the action. In her short but poignant sermon, Lindsay gave three points on how to stop Islamophobia in the US.
“When you receive an e-mail message demonizing Islam just delete it, don’t forward it and don’t participate in this stereotyping,” she said.
“Don’t focus on this tiny group of extremists and focus on the hundreds of millions of Muslim faithful whose priorities and concerns are not different from your own.”
She also advised Christians to think about Muslim individuals rather than making sweeping, misinformed and outright false generalizations about Muslims.
“Think of a professor in Ohio State University, an engineer working on the road and an elementary teacher,” she said.
She also pointed out that so many Muslims were killed in 9/11 attacks. Tariq Amanullah, the founder of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), who worked in the World Trade Center, was one among them. It is estimated that at least 60 Muslims died in the World Trade towers including cooks of the top-floor restaurant. Many more managed to flee. The World Trade Center had enough Muslim faithful that there was a prayer room on the 17th floor of the South Tower.
The Christian leader said America needed today a healthy dose of humility in many quarters. She said many people were receiving too much publicity for demeaning other faiths, especially Islam.
“Reasonable people can express their disagreement over the plan to establish a Muslim community center near Ground Zero but that just not justify the fear that has washed across this country,” she said.
She described Islam as a peaceful religion, adding that Muslims revered Jesus and Moses (peace be upon them) as their prophets. “Most religious texts have stories of war and violence. Throughout history people used these texts to justify violence. You can see such passages even in the Bible,” she pointed out.
“In the Bible we have ‘thou shall not kill’ and in the Qur’an we read whoever kills another surely he is killing all of humanity and whoever saves a life surely he saves the whole humanity. These are words of faith and peace that can save the world if we take them to heart.”
She ended her sermon praying to God to help stand up against intolerance and hate.

Australian burns Quran and Bible

Melbourne, Sep 13 (IANS) An Australian has posted a video of himself burning the Quran and the Bible on video sharing website YouTube, drawing widespread criticism, a media report said Monday.
Queensland University of Technology's Alex Stewart has taken leave from his non-academic position as a commercial contracts lawyer and now expects to be sacked, brisbanetimes.com.au reported Monday.
The university is now probing the 12-minute homemade video, put on YouTube Friday.
The Islamic Association of Australia Monday morning called on Muslims to remain calm following widespread criticism of the act.
The Catholic Church, QUT and the Queensland Law Society have also condemned the video clip.
Sheik Muhammad Wahid, president of The Islamic Association of Australia, urged 'hurt' Muslims not to retaliate.
'Of course we're hurt ... but I would urge my Muslim fellow men to respond with caution and with responsibility,' he was quoted as saying.
'They should be careful when they respond upon these issues. We are a community of tolerance (and) understanding.
'Of course people will be angry but I urge they should not take the law into their own hands and they should show their response in a positive way to explain (to) the whole Australian public that we must live in a way that we respect each other's faith and practices.'
Bishop Michael Putney, a spokesman for the Catholic Church, said Stewart had caused pain.
'I think some will get a bit cross with him and others will say what a silly fellow he is,' Bishop Putney, who chairs the Australian Catholic Church's committee for ecumenism and inter-religious relations, was quoted as saying.
'(Stewart) has caused pain in people and may incite anger in people and I don't think that's ever acceptable. I would think his behaviour gives atheism a bad name and I suspect the university will be a little bit embarrassed by what he's done.'
Stewart, who is an atheist, seems to be smoking marijuana that is rolled in pages from the religious texts. He then rates which 'burns better'.
Stewart's video comes close on the heels of a US pastor threatening to burn the Quran to mark the 9/11 anniversary. The pastor's threat sparked global outrage.
On Monday morning, Stewart met the varsity management and agreed to take leave, a university spokesperson said.
He fears that won't be permitted to return to the Brisbane campus.
'I'm screwed. I think I will lose my job over this. Damn it,' he wrote on a website for Brisbane Atheists.
He clarified that that the substance shown in the video was lawn clippings, the media report said.
In the video, he indicated the substance of being marijuana and pre-empted a police probe.
'I probably won't appear on webcam again after the police come and arrest me.'

Al-Ameriah Madrasa was established in 910 After Hijrah by Sultan Amer bin Abddulwahab who ruled the south of Yemen in 894-923 After Hijrah, 1489-1517 AC.
Sultan Amer bin Abdulwahab is the grandson of Sultan Taher bin Al-Hussain who established the Tahri Dynasty which ruled the southern part of Yemen in 1453-1538.
He was the best Sultan of the Thahirs. He built many Madrasas and mosques like Al-Ba'daniah Madrasa and Al-Baghdadiah Madrasa and Al-Awsajah Mosque.
Al-Ameriah Madrasa is located in the heart of Rada'a old city. It was a school for teaching the holy Koran and a mosque. The "Madrasa" is three stories and was exposed to destruction and elimination by the Zaidi Imams who descended from Sultan Al-Mutahar. The Imami rule ended in 1962 by revolutionists who established the republican system in Yemen.

Thousands to ‘celebrate’ Eid in the open

DADU: Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to ‘celebrate’ Eid in the open, tents and shabby camps after the worst floods in the country’s history threw them out of their homes weeks ago.
But the disaster is far from over and continues to bring fresh trouble. A metalled bridge on the Main Nara Valley drain, adjacent to the Manchhar lake embankment near Dal area in Sehwan taluka, was swept away by floodwaters on Friday.
A breach in a dyke near Maro Ja Tullah in Mehar taluka widened from 50 feet to 200 feet and discharged a huge flow of water into the MNV drain. But work to plug the breach could not begin because the place was inaccessible.
The water level in Manchhar was rising and eroding its embankment and flood protective dyke.

Airstrikes kill 14 insurgents in Afghanistan: Nato

KABUL: Airstrikes killed 14 insurgents in central Afghanistan, Nato said.
The military alliance said in a statement Monday that the air power was used after a joint Nato-Afghan patrol came under small arms and machine-gun fire from militants. It happened Sunday while the patrol was crossing a river in the central Uruzgan province.
Nato said troops requested air support after concluding there was no danger of civilian casualties. Nato aircraft targeted the insurgents in three raids with precision-guided ammunition.
Nato said initial reports indicated no civilian casualties occurred.

1,600 Chinese workers embrace Islam in Saudi

Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that nearly 1,600 Chinese employed by a company building Makkah’s first metro railway have converted to Islam.
Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that nearly 1,600 Chinese employed by a company building Makkah’s first metro railway have converted to Islam.
The Government Islamic Guidance Centre in Makkah, Islam’s holiest shrine, said all the converters are workers in the train project that was launched three years ago at a cost of around SR6.7 billion (Dh6.6 billion).
“The Centre held a reception for nearly 1,600 Chinese who embraced Islam and gave them token gifts on the occasion of Eid al Fitr,” Al Madina daily said.
Saudi officials said nearly 35 per cent of the train project had been completed and it would be able to transport around130,000 pilgrims through the holy sites in this year’s Haj season scheduled to start in November. After it is fully commissioned within two years, it will have a capacity for two million pilgrims.

Eleven alleged members of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) -a home-grown terrorist outfit -responsible for the September 13, 2008, serial blasts in the Capital are still on the run. The list includes eight bombers and three masterminds.
An offshoot of Pakistan-based Laskhar-e-Tayyeba, IM recruited young men, many of them students and computer professionals, to carry out the blasts.
A module of 25 members carried out the blasts. “We are still on the chase of the absconding bombers. While 14 have been arrested, there are 11 others who are still on the run,“ said a senior police officer.
It all started with a single powerful explosion at 6.17 p.m.
on September 13, 2008.

Foot in mouth Salman triggers outrage with remarks on Pak TV
DABANGG hero Salman Khan created a nationwide uproar when he claimed on a Pakistani TV channel: “ Everyone knows the Pakistan government was not behind the 26/ 11 attacks on Mumbai.”
Speaking to a woman TV anchor, the actor sporting a moustache and looking intense dropped a bomb when he pronounced: “ Everyone knows it was a terror attack and most importantly our security failed.” He seemed clueless on the grave implications of his shocking statement.
The actor, who has had numerous brushes with controversy, by his own admission reads books only when he needs sleep ( he does so only two hours a day) and loves to “ chill” when he’s “ free”, was answering a question on why he had taken a sympathetic stand on Pakistan post- 26/ 11 when every Indian was outraged by the appalling terror assault.

SRINAGAR: Hundreds of stone-throwing protesters defied a curfew and attacked security forces in two towns in Indian-administered Kashmir on Sunday, injuring nine police officers and four soldiers, police said.
Separately, about 300 protesters stoned the home of state Education Minister Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed, who escaped injury, a police officer said. His guards fired at the demonstrators, wounding five, the officer said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.
The anti-India protests erupted hours after police formally accused a key separatist leader of treason for allegedly inciting participants in a massive rally to torch government offices a day earlier.
Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq could face the death sentence or life imprisonment if prosecutors proceed with charges against him and he is convicted. However, police have brought similar cases against other separatist leaders in the past and they have rarely been pursued.

THE JAMMU and Kashmir Police have registered three first investigation reports ( FIRs) against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference. He was charged with unlawful activities, rioting, promoting hatred and abetting people to loot and commit arson.
The police accused Mirwaiz of provoking the masses in Srinagar on Eid saying this led them to burn a government building opposite the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, about 1 km from Lal Chowk. Mirwaiz responded with a demand for a probe into the incident.
The police registered a case against him at Safakadal police station for instigating people to proceed towards Lal Chowk.
At Kothibag police station, Section 436 of the Ranbir Penal Code ( RPC) was slapped on Mirwaiz and others for instigating people to resort to arson and damage public property. The trial in this section takes place under a special judge.

Pune blast men were on list to Pak

The man who put together and guided the terror module that carried out the blast at Pune's German Bakery on February 13 this year had also played a key role in helping the Mumbai 26/11 attackers.
Abu Jindal, whom the lone surviving attacker of 26/11, Ajmal Kasab, named in court as the person who taught him the rudiments of Hindi, hails from Gavrai, a small town in central Maharashtra. He was also the sole Indian among those who guided the 26/11 attackers by satellite phone while they were wreaking havoc.
Statements made to the police by Mirza Himayat Baig, arrested last Wednesday for carrying out the Pune blast which killed 17 people, claim Abu Jindal -alias Syed Zakiuddin Ansari alias Zabiuddin Ansari alias Zabi -planned the Pune attack as well. Curiously, Jindal was also once an informer for the Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad and in May 2006, guided them to a major arms' haul the squad made in Aurangabad, which included around 43 kg of RDX and 16 AK-47 assault rifles. But soon after he switched loyalties and crossed the border to Bangladesh, from where he went to Pakistan.

By the time the teenage Taliban member had completed his training as a suicide bomber and reached the 30- strong fighting unit to which he had been assigned,he was so indoctrinated that all he could think about was killing himself and taking as many infidels with him as possible.
Changing location every night to avoid detection,the 19- year-old waited for the delivery of the explosive vest that he would strap to his chest before blowing himself up next to an American convoy.
Of course I wasnt scared.I was proud I was going to become a martyr.I knew that if I martyred myself killing American soldiers,then Id taste eternity, said the young man,who gave his name as Toryelai.
He has yet to launch his attack,however.The commander of his Taliban unit,a 42-year-old who called himself Mullah Aminullah,has told him that to do so would be unIslamic.

Israeli shelling kills 3 Palestinians in Gaza

GAZA : Israeli shelling killed three Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, medical workers and witnesses said, after militants in the Hamas-ruled territory fired rockets across the border.
Hamas security and medical officials said the three Palestinian dead were farmers from the town of Beit Hanoun near the Israel- Gaza border. Three other Palestinians were wounded, they said.
An Israeli military spokesman said soldiers in the area shot at a group trying to fire a rocket-propelled grenade at them, "who were apparently hit." The shelling followed the firing of two rockets by militants in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip into Israel. No one was hurt

AHMEDABAD: Taking a swipe at Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his 'saffron terror' comment, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today asked him to describe the "colour of terrorism in the Kashmir valley".
"Now, even terrorism has different colours, as per our Home Minister Chidambaram," Modi said while addressing a seminar organised by the BJP Youth Wing here.
"I would like to ask him what would be the colour of terrorism faced by the people of Kashmir. What would be colour of violence faced by thousands of Kashmiri pandits," Modi asked.
While addressing a function of state police chiefs in Delhi last month, Chidambaram had said a new phenomenon of "saffron terrorism" involved in many bomb blasts had been uncovered.

‘Ayodhya ruling exactly 20 yrs after my yatra’

The Allahabad High Court is all set to deliver on September 24 the judgement on Ayodhya title suit and it would come exactly two decades after veteran BJP leader LK Advani undertook the Ram Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya.
“What a remarkable coincidence it is that the Allahabad High Court has announced last week that the Bench considering the title suits relating to the Ayodhya dispute will pronounce its verdict on September 24...When in 1990, I decided to undertake a Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya where kar sewa had been announced for October 30, I decided to commence my journey on September 25,” Advani said in his latest blog posting on Sunday.
The senior BJP leaders recalled September 25 also happens to be the birthday of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, whom he described as an ideal role model for every political activist. Advani was not able to complete his yatra and arrested in Samastipur district of Bihar on October 23, 1990.

Will Sept 24 Babri verdict settle dispute?

Built in 1528 by Mir Baqi and known till the 1940s as Masjid-i-Janmasthan, the Babri Masjid- Ramjanambhoomi disputed structure was demolished by a marauding mob on December 6, 1992. The sound of its loud crash, etched in the memory of many, could potentially reverberate again after the Allahabad high court decides the title suits filed by both Hindus and Muslims claiming ownership over the land on which the structure once stood.
Babri Masjid was also known for its acoustics. Graham Pickford, who was an architect for Lord William Bentick (1828-1833), had said, "A whisper from the Babri Masjid Mihrab could be heard at the other end, 100 feet away, and throughout the length and breadth of the central court." It had a miracle well, whose water was revered both by Hindus and Muslims for its cool sweetness and for its disease curing powers, all recorded in the District Gazetteer of Faizabad (DGF).

Backing off on mosque will boost extremists, says imam

WASHINGTON: The Islamic cleric behind plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York warned on Sunday that retreating on the project would only strengthen the hand of Muslim extremists around the world.
Despite the warning, imam Feisal Abdul Rauf dodged the question when asked if he intended to keep the Islamic cultural center at its current site, two blocks from where al-Qaida crashed planes into the World Trade Center.
"The decisions that I will make — that we will make — will be predicated on what is best for everybody," he told ABC's " This Week" program.
On Saturday's ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, thousands marched in dueling protests over the row, which was stoked by a Florida pastor's threat to burn the Quran to mark the occasion.

'No chance' of another martial law in Pakistan: Sharif

PESHAWAR: Former Pakistan premier and main opposition PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has said there is "no chance" of imposition of another spell of martial law in the country though steps should be taken to remove corrupt persons from the corridors of power.
Sharif made the remarks while interacting with children in the flood-hit Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr yesterday. He visited a relief camp and distributed sweets, clothes and gifts among the children.
"The failure of the government cannot be described as the failure of the democracy," he said, referring to the criticism of the Pakistan People's Party-led coalition's handling of the floods.
Questions were being raised due to the tainted image of some politicians, he said and called on the judiciary and Parliament to throw out corrupt people from politics.
Sharif also said that there was "no need" for a military operation in the insurgency-hit province of Balochistan.

His hands fail to wipe his tears

Mumbai: Within half-an-hour, 36-year-old Shyamsunder Chowdhury cried twice — the only way he can express himself, besides painful groans. And each time, his family lovingly wiped his tears.
Till six months ago, Mr. Chowdhury — a victim of the November 28, 2008 multiple terror strike in Mumbai — had been working and earning for his family of six. But the brutality of the attack has afflicted him once again — with more vengeance than before.
“The right side of his brain has stopped functioning, leaving him paralysed. The shrapnel wounds he received during the attack have festered. Doctors say the infection is spreading to the left side of his brain, and that there are very slim chances of recovery,” Baby, Mr. Chowdhury's wife, told The Hindu.
Within a fortnight of the attack, Mr. Chowdhury had been well on the path of recovery. A few scars on his shaved head and an arm supported in splint were the only visible signs of injury. He had narrated his experience to The Hindu (on December 15, 2008) of the blast that ripped a taxi in Vile Parle. A year later, he even deposed before the special sessions court trying the 26/11 case.

Groundwork laid for new Indo- Pak talks in US

YET ANOTHER global meet will begin in the US 10 days from now. With it, the prospects of a bilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan have brightened.
External affairs minister S. M. Krishna is likely to go to the US on September 20 to attend a session of the UN general assembly ( UNGA). An array of meetings is scheduled on the sidelines of the meet where Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi will come face- to- face.
According to sources, though no Indo- Pak meet has been scheduled in New York, a pull- aside bilateral meeting cannot be ruled out.
If it materialises, it will be the first bilateral meet between the two following the July 15 Islamabad talks that got derailed.
Krishna and Qureshi will be leading their respective delegations at the UNGA session in the absence of their prime ministers.
The two could meet at the UN secretary general’s dinner and later at the SAARC foreign ministers meeting in New York on September 28.

Palestine Must Recognise Israel As Jewish State’

Sept. 12: Days ahead of a crucial peacemaking session, Israel’s PM touched a raw nerve with the Palestinians on Sunday by demanding they recognise Israel as a Jewish state, something they have long rejected.
Benjamin Netanyahu said such recognition must be the foundation for peace and that he regretted the Palestinians have not yet agreed. “The foundation of the state of Israel is that it is the nation-state of the Jewish people,” Mr Netanyahu said at the start of the Israeli Cabinet’s weekly meeting.
“That is the real basis of the end of demands from the state of Israel and the end of the conflict between the two peoples.” Mr Netanyahu has made recognition of Israel’s Jewish character a central demand, suggesting the Palestinians’ failure to do so means they have not come to terms with Israel’s existence. Veteran Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath said Israel was using this demand as a pretext to withhold full rights from Palestinian citizens of Israel and to deny the right of return to Palestinian refugees from the war surrounding Israel’s 1948 independence.

Two injured in Mardan church blast

MARDAN: Two people, including a policeman, got injured when an explosion took place in a church in Mardan on Sunday night.
According to police sources, a bomb fixed near the building of Lotharan church in the Cantt area went off, injuring two people.
The injured were shifted to a hospital.

PM urges international community for more help

JAMPUR: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan was not seeking economic assistance from the international community by using floods as a pretext.
Gilani, while talking to media representatives in Jampur on Sunday, appealed to the international community to help Pakistan in these difficult times.
The floods were a large scale tragedy and assistance from international community can help meet the challenges, he added.
Gilani said that Pakistan was facing the history's worst floods at a time when it was fighting the war against terrorism as a frontline state.
“This is a war for peace and development of the world, and Pakistan was determined to confront terrorism,” he added.
The premier while visiting the flood-hit areas said that Jampur was like his home as he possessed land there.

Turkish voters on Sunday approved constitutional reforms that the government says will strengthen the nation’s democracy and help its candidacy for the European Union.
The government has already cut back the power of another pillar of conservative secularism, the armed forces, as part of reforms demanded by the European Union, which Turkey seeks to join. It has also extended its influence in the civil service by appointing supporters, as other ruling parties have done before.
What’s at stake?
Some critics of the AK government would say that at stake is the very future of a country built on secularist principles by its founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The traditional secularist opposition, tainted by accusations of corruption and mismanagement, was swept away by the newly-founded AK in 2002 elections. It remains fragmented and lacks strong leaders to rival Erdogan.

Tens of thousands held without trial in Iraq jails

BAGHDAD - Tens of thousands of detainees are being held without trial in Iraqi prisons and face violent and psychological abuse as well as other forms of mistreatment, Amnesty International said Monday.
The London-based human rights watchdog estimates 30,000 people are held in Iraqi jails, noting several are known to have died in custody, while cataloguing physical and psychological abuses against others.
“Iraq’s security forces have been responsible for systematically violating detainees’ rights and they have been permitted to do so with impunity,” said Amnesty’s Middle East and North Africa director Malcolm Smart.
“The Iraqi authorities must take the firm and decisive action now... to show that they have the political will to uphold the human rights of all Iraqis, in accordance with their international obligations and to stop the torture and other gross abuses of detainees’ rights.”

Afghan president condemns ‘international terrorism’

KABUL - Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States by condemning “international terrorism” and offering condolences to the families of victims.
In a statement, Karzai said Afghanistan was not the source of militancy and those fighting it must focus on the “sources and birthplaces of terrorism”, an apparent reference to Pakistan.
The statement also refers to “innocent Afghans” as the victims of the current strategy of the war against the Taliban, which is nearing the end of its ninth year since the Islamists’ regime was overthrown in a US-led invasion.
“Afghan villages are not the birthplaces and sources of terrorism and innocent Afghan people must not become the victims of the war against terrorism,” Karzai said in the statement issued by his office.

Five killed in central Iraq violence

BAQUBA, Iraq - Bomb attacks and firefights on Sunday in the restive central Iraqi province of Diyala killed five people, including two soldiers and a policeman, security officials said.
One Iraqi soldier and a policeman were killed in a gunfight with insurgents in the agricultural village of Al-Hudaid, according to Major Mohammed al-Karkhi, spokesman for police in Diyala, north of Baghdad.
Three insurgents were also killed and 10 people wounded in the shooting, which began Saturday night as armed groups sought to take control of Al-Hudaid, west of the provincial capital Baquba.
Defence ministry spokesman Major General Mohammed al-Askari said on Saturday that security forces had arrested 12 insurgents in the same village that day.
In the centre of Baquba, meanwhile, two civilians were killed and a young child was wounded when a magnetic so-called “sticky bomb” was attached to a minibus that they were in, a police official said.

Zayed House honours new Muslims Adel Arafa

ABU DHABI — The Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC) and Al Ain Municipality honoured on Sunday as many as 50 newly converted Muslims residing in the country.
Dr Mohammad Matter Al Kabi, the head of board of directors of ZHIC, told Khaleej Times that the ZHIC is good at accommodating new Muslims and is excellent at edifying them with the Islamic culture in line with tolerance and mediocrity approaches.
The ZHIC, he said, laid down its strategic plan to bring into being such a vision by introducing distinguished services to familiarise the new Muslims with the essence of Islam to orient and indulge them into the society.
The ZHIC wanted to show the whole world that the UAE is an ideal place of peaceful co-existence and religious tolerance.
Dr Al Kabi added: “Since the inception of the board of directors of the ZHIC, it has been concentrating over the past three years on producing educational curricula which reflect the ZHIC’s vision and its approach of mediocrity.”

Naif underlines need to support the poor

JEDDAH: Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif has commended the services rendered by security officers and government agencies for the millions of pilgrims who came to perform Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing a group of citizens who came to greet him on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr at his office in Jeddah, Prince Naif emphasized the need for helping the poor and needy.
“Social support and giving to those in need should be the hallmark of every citizen,” he said.
Prince Naif extended Eid greetings to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, and Saudi citizens across the country. “I take this opportunity to thank all those who served the guests of God in Makkah and Madinah and on their way to the holy cities,” the minister said.
About three million pilgrims from abroad and more than five million from within the Kingdom, including expatriate workers performed Umrah during Ramadan.
The reception was attended by a large number of princes and officials including Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Prince Ahmed, deputy interior minister, and Prince Muhammad bin Naif, assistant interior minister for security affairs.

Islam and the ‘Shining City upon a Hill’

One of the most remarkable features about human beings is that they are so capable of thinking great thoughts as well as demonstrating the darkest features of their spirits.
One example of a great thought is the US Constitution, which contains the following statement in Article Six: “... no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
Manifestations of the dark side of the human psyche are the continued demonstrations against the building of an Islamic center close to “Ground Zero” in Manhattan, New York, and public opposition to building mosques elsewhere in the country. When President Barack Obama spoke in support of it — and his statement was half courageous in the sense that he only supported it on constitutional grounds and then backed away about not commenting whether it was good judgment — the pack of hatemongers spread all over America turned against him by calling him a Muslim. As if being a Muslim — which he is not — would make him unfit to hold the office of president.
If Time Magazine’s recent cover story is correct, Islamophobia is on the rise in the United States.

5 Australian Muslims charged with planning attack on army

Sydney, Sep 13 (DPA) Five militant Australian Islamists planned to arm themselves with automatic weapons and kill as many soldiers as they could in a suicide attack at a Sydney army barracks, a court in Melbourne was told Monday.
At the start of their trial, Melbourne men Saney Aweys, 27, Yacqub Khayre, 23, Abdirahman Ahmed, 26, Wissam Fattal, 34, and Nayef El Sayed, 26, pleaded not guilty to conspiring to do acts in preparation for a terrorist act.
Police allege the five, who are Australian citizens of either Somali or Lebanese descent, had sought the blessing of a Muslim leader for their plan to burst into the base and open fire.
One of the accused is alleged to have travelled to Africa seeking a fatwa, or religious ruling, to justify their attack.

Surrogate mother miscarried Osama's twin grandchildren

London, Sep 13 (IANS) The British surrogate mother who was carrying Osama Bin Laden's twin grandchildren has suffered a miscarriage after being attacked by two men in Syria.
Louise Pollard, 24, was ten weeks into pregnancy when she lost the twin conceived through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) using the sperm of Bin Laden's son Omar and the eggs of his 54-year-old British wife, Zaina, previously known as Jane Felix-Browne.
Pollard was travelling in Syria with Omar's wife. She was attacked as she walked alone from a cafe to her accommodation late at night. The assailants did not speak, but punched her to the ground, and then ran away, leaving her with a black eye and bruising on her arms and legs, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
Pollard, who hails from Bristol, managed to get back to her apartment, and later went to hospital where a scan showed she had lost the babies. 'There was no heart beat,' said Pollard.
