Saudi Women vow to breastfeed their
drivers
Jun 26, 2010
Riyadh: Saudi women plan to turn a controversial
fatwa (religious ruling) to their advantage and launch a campaign to achieve
their long-standing demand to drive in this conservative
kingdom.
If the demand is not met, the women threatened to
follow through the fatwa which allows them to breastfeed their drivers and turn
them into their sons.
The campaign will be launched under the slogan:
"We either be allowed to drive or breastfeed foreigners," a journalist told Gulf
News.
Amal Zahid said that their decision follows a
fatwa issued by a renowned scholar which said that Saudi women can breastfeed
their foreign drivers for them to become their
sons.
"As every Saudi family needs a driver, our
campaign will focus on women's right to drive," she
said.
The controversial fatwa, which was regarded as
both funny and weird, issued recently by Shaikh Abdul Mohsin Bin Nasser Al
Obaikan, member of Saudi Council of Senior Scholars and adviser to the king, has
sparked a debate in society.
The renowned scholar said Saudi women can
breastfeed their foreign drivers for them to be become their sons and brothers
to their daughters.
Under this relationship, foreign drivers can mix
freely with all members of the family without breaking the Islamic rule which
does not allow mixing of genders.
Breast milk kinship is considered to be as good
as a blood relationship in Islam.
"A woman can breastfeed a mature man so that he
becomes her son. In this way, he can mix with her and her daughters without
violating the teachings of Islam," the scholar
said.
‘Ridiculous and
weird'
Al Obaikan based his fatwa on a Hadith (saying)
of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which was narrated by Salim, the servant of Abu
Huzaifa.
Later, Al Obaikan clarified that his fatwa was
being distorted by the local media which ignored the condition that the milk
should be drawn out of the woman and given to the man in a cup to
drink.
Speaking to Gulf News, a number of Saudi women
condemned the fatwa. Fatima Al Shammary was quoted by the local Arabic daily Al
Watan as saying the fatwa was "ridiculous and
weird".
"This fatwa has become a hot topic of debate
among women. Is this is all that is left to us to do: to give our breasts to the
foreign drivers?" she said.
Another Saudi woman, who spoke on condition of
anonymity, questioned: "Does Islam allow me to breastfeed a foreign man and
prevent me from driving my own car?
"I have not breastfed my own children. How do you
expect me to do this with a foreign man? What is this nonsense?" she
said.
Another woman said the fatwa should also apply to
the husbands who should be breastfed by housemaids. By doing so, all will be
brothers and sisters," she said.
Hamid Al Ali, a journalist for an electronic
newspaper, recalled that an Egyptian driver who had a crush on a female teacher
he drives to school asked her to breastfeed him. When she retorted angrily, he
said: "I want to be your son."
Saudi writer Suzan Al Mashhadi sarcastically
asked Al Obaikan: "Do the women have to breastfeed the driver in the presence of
their husbands or can they do this alone?"
"Who will protect the wife if the husband entered
the house unexpectedly and found his wife breastfeeding the driver?" she
asked.

Saudi Arabian mother becomes the First Lady of
al-Qaeda
By Richard Spencer
JUNE 26, 2010
Saudi Arabia is reviewing its terrorism strategy
after the detection of a female run network that was fund raising for
al-Qaeda.
Heila al-Qusayyer, the middle class mother now
described as al-Qaeda's 'First Lady' was running a cell of 60 alleged militants.
She is believed to have been the Arabian peninsula's principal fund-raiser for
al-Qaeda.
Qusayyer holds a degree in geography and was
married to a former executive from Aramco, the all-powerful state oil company,
who gave up all his worldly possessions to become a radical
preacher.
Counter-terror officials have previously assumed
that young men and boys are the principal agents of radical
Islam.
Saudi security chiefs have since set up a
specialist all-female unit at King Saud University, the country's oldest, to
study the appeal of Islamist militancy to women and how best to tackle
it.
"The story of this woman, who was involved in
collecting money, with that money finding its way to al-Qaeda, has been like an
alarm call to us," General Mansur al-Turki of the Saudi interior ministry told
The Daily Telegraph.
There had been previous arrests of women
terrorists, including some involved in bomb preparatio but such is the
sensitivity towards the role of women, they were returned
home.
The country's approach to suspects has become
tougher across the board after Saeed al-Shehri, the deputy leader of Al-Qaeda in
the Arabian Peninsula.
Until then alleged terrorist were mainly put
through a controversial rehabilitation programme with an emphasis on education
and psychology.
Shehri, a former Guantanamo Bay inmate who
returned to Saudi Arabia and then fled to Yemen, specifically demanded the
release of Heila al-Qusayyer, who had been arrested in
February.
Based on confessions she is said to have made in
custody, the authorities say she used the cover of Islamic charities to obtain
donations of cash and jewellery that she passed on to
al-Qaeda.
One payment was of 650,000 Saudi riyals
(GBP120,000).
Saudi newspapers have picked over leaked details
of her arrest, such as that when discovered she was alone with a male suspect -
a violation of strict sharia laws banning the mixing of
sexes.
Wafa al-Shehri, Shehri's wife, was a key
intermediary, returning to Saudi Arabia to recruit women and girls. But Qusayyer
is also said to have been intending to join Saeed al-Shehri and become his
second wife.
Even so, consideration is paid to her right to
privacy as a woman. There is no known photograph of her, even wearing the niqab
or face-veil that is used by all conservative women in the
kingdom.
She was divorced by her first husband,
Abdulkareem al-Humaid, the former oil executive, after he was jailed, so that
she could continue her mission by marrying again.
Gen Turki said that women were possibly easier
prey than men, because they were more affected by issues such as poverty and
unemployment known to be a breeding ground for
militancy.
He said it was also clear that women's restricted
lives under local customs and laws did not mean they were unable to mix with
male militants.
"We must reassure the community about the issue
of al-Qaeda approaching women," he said.

Jihadist conglomerate in Bangladesh preparing for
offensives
By Salah Uddin Shoaib
Choudhury
June 26, 2010
After many months of being virtually cornered by
Bangladeshi law enforcing agencies through massive offensives, a number of
Islamist groups in the country recently have formed a conglomerate with the
objective of 'giving a proper response' through series of destructive activities
within the country. According to press report, notorious Jihadist group named
Harkat-Ul-Jihad [HUJI] has aligned with other Islamist groups named Hizbut
Tahrir [HT], Hizb Ut Towhid [HUT] and some other extremist militancy groups in
Bangladesh. This Jihadist conglomerate has connections with international terror
outfits like Al Qaeda, Lashkar-E-Taiba [LET], Sipahi Sahaba etc. They also have
connection with Kashmiri militant groups and separatist outfits in North-Eastern
part of India.
Bangladeshi authorities already banned activities
of Harkat-Ul-Jihad and Hizbut Tahrir for having specific links with several
terrorist activities. Another Islamist terror outfit named Hizb Ut Towhid is
continuing activities inside Bangladesh and in a number of countries in the
world, though Bangladeshi authorities have banned distribution of its Jihadist
and anti-Semitic publications few weeks back. Hizb Ut Towhid kingpin Wazed Khan
Panni alias Selim Panni is collecting members for his group from various parts
of the country. This group also has created a ferocious Female Suicide Squad,
which is being trained with the goal of making offensives mostly in Western
countries.
According to Bangladeshi vernacular daily named
Kaler Kantho, a secret meeting of this Jihadist conglomerate took place on May
28, 2010 under the leadership of HUJI leader Moulana Abu Bakr. During this
meeting it was unanimously decided that the Jihadist conglomerate will publish a
sermon in favor of establishing Sharia law in Bangladesh with the signature of
at least one thousand clergies in the country. They also have decided to publish
another document signed by Taliban kingpin Mollah Omar, with his instruction of
waging Jihad in Bangladesh with the goal of staging 'Islamic revolution'. It is
learnt from another source that, Iranian embassy in Bangladesh as well as
representatives of PLO are closely coordinating and patronizing such notorious
activities within the country. During this meeting, it was disclosed that,
signed sermon of Mollah Omar has already been obtained by Bangladeshi Jihadist
leaders.
In an investigative report, the Bangladeshi
vernacular daily further mentioned that, a 3-member delegation of Jihadist
conglomerates are already in Afghanistan, who will be arriving in the country
with specific instructions from Taliban and Al Qaeda kingpins, right before
beginning Jihad in Bangladesh.
HUJI started its journey in 1988 with repatriated
Jihadist from Afghanistan and Palestine under direct patronization of a number
of countries including Iran, Palestine and Pakistan. One of the top kingpins of
this group is Pakistani national Saifullah Akhar, who was a commander in Afghan
battle ground. Bangladesh national Abdur Rahman Faruki, who also was a commander
in Afghan battle ground, was assigned as the leader of HUJI in Bangladesh. When
Faruki was killed in a mine blast on 11th May 1989, another Bangladeshi national
named Mufti Shafiqur Rahman became the head of HUJI activities in the country.
This group took almost six year for taking preparations and training secretly
and on 30th April 1993, it declared existence in Bangladesh through a press
conference organized at National Press Club in Dhaka [Capital of
Bangladesh].
Initial task of HUJI was to recruit Jihadists
from Qawmi [Koranic] Madrassas in the country for sending them to Afghanistan
and Palestine. After the end of Afghan war, HUJI started sending Jihadist
recruits to Myanmar for getting them training by terror outfits operated by
Arakan and Rohingya Muslims. Some of the commanders of Arakan and Rohingya
terror outfits even came to Bangladeshi territory for secretly giving training
to local Jihadists. On 19th February 1996, a group of Jihadists along with
Myanmar commanders were arrested by Bangladeshi law enforcing agencies with huge
volume of arms and explosives at Chittagong Hill Tract area. This was the first
time; Bangladeshi authorities got evidence of Myanmar terrorists giving training
to local Jihadists recruited by HUJI. According to various reports, presently
more than 15,000 well-trained Jihadists only belonging to HUJI are hiding in
various parts of Bangladesh. The figure will be much higher if the number of
Jihadists under Hizbut Tahrir, Hizb Ut Towhid etc could be
determined.
Several Islamist politicians in Bangladesh are
giving silent assistance to such notorious Jihadist groups and conglomerate.
This group is publishing a Jihadist monthly newspaper named 'Rahmat' [Blessings]
in vernacular language under the active patronization of a leader of an Islamist
political party.
While talking to the local vernacular daily, a
member of the Jihadist conglomerate said, "We are set to wage war for
establishment of Sharia rule in Bangladesh. We wanted to come into open
politics. But, none of the governments ever gave us the chance of doing so. We
have thousands of trained Jihadists in our conglomerate, and we never care about
our lives. We want to stage Islamic revolution in Bangladesh, and we shall
succeed."
According to sources, it was confirmed that this
Jihadist conglomerate will target secular institutions and individuals in
Bangladesh. Anti-Jihadist people and organizations are also on their hit
list.

Get tough with 26/11 plotters, Chidambaram tells
Pak
Vishwa Mohan & Omer Farooq
Khan
Jun 26, 2010
ON BOARD SPECIAL AIRCRAFT/ISLAMABAD: While trying
hard not to strike a shrill note lest it had repercussions for the SAARC home
ministers' conference a day later, India on Friday is understood to have
"politely but firmly" asked Pakistan to expeditiously bring to justice all the
26/11 plotters, including Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed.
India is also believed to have asked Pakistan to
verify details of Pakistani Army personnel and others identified by India's own
investigation as among the 26/11 plotters and whose involvement in the carnage
has been attested to independently by Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman
Headley.
Indian official sources were tightlipped and
refused to confirm any details.
India is said to have asked Pakistan to hand it
over voice samples of all the seven LeT terrorists who have been in Pakistani
jails for their involvement in 26/11 as "a first step" towards restoring
confidence in the neighbour's intention and putting the trust quotient firmly on
the ground.
Pakistan, on its part, is understood to have told
India that three of the seven arrested ones -- including Zakiur-ur-Rehman Lakvi,
Zarar Shah and Abu-al-Qama -- refused to provide voice samples invoking
self-incrimination clause (not giving evidence against themselves).
Significantly, India had rejected the contention as legally untenable when it
was made earlier.
India is said to have put forward its position
again when home minister P Chidambaram met his Pakistani counterpart Rehman
Malik. Chidambaram is believed to have argued that providing voice samples
should not be difficult if Pakistan willed so. India is asking for the voice
samples to match with the ones of those who were giving instructions to the
26/11 attackers.
Chidambaram is learnt to have told Malik that the
time has come to address issues concerning the deadly Mumbai terror attacks with
the seriousness that they warrant as 18 months have passed without no real
progress in the probe on the Pakistani side. He is said to have told the
Pakistani minister that it was time Pakistan followed "certain leads" to collect
`concrete' evidence against Saeed. Chidambaram is also learnt to have asked
Malik to step up efforts to locate and arrest 13 absconders found guilty by
Indian courts.
Malik departed from protocol to receive
Chidambaram at the Chakala base of the Pakistan Air Force on the outskirts of
Islamabad. The two ministers travelled together in the helicopter for security
reasons.
Besides Lakhvi, Zarar Shah and Abu-al-Qama, the
four others who are in Pakistani jails for their role in the Mumbai carnage are
Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jamil Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younas Anjum. They were all
formally charged with planning and helping execute terror attack on Mumbai in
November 2008.
Besides these seven, there are 13 absconders --
details of which had already been given by India to Pakistan in its first
dossier on the Mumbai terror attack. The absconders are: Shahid Ghafoor, Andul
Rehman, Ateeq-ur-Rehman, Shakil Ahmed, Muhammed Sabir Salfi and others who were
the crew members of the ships Al Hussaini and Al Fouz used in ferrying the 10
Lashkar terrorists from Karachi.
Referring to Pakistani court's recent order that
evidence against the mastermind of 26/11 Hafiz Saeed was not adequate, India is
said to have asked Pakistan that the evidences against the Lashkar founder were
there on Pakistani soil. So, it was their duty to collect it and present it
before court.
Talking to Indian media on his special aircraft,
Chidambaram had said that he planned to raise India's demand for action against
Hafiz Saeed and others. "Hafiz Saeed is one among them. There are controllers,
there are handlers, so we need to know what action they (Pakistan government)
will take against them. These matters cannot be ignored forever. Somebody has to
address these issues sometime or the other."
He said he will also take up other issues like
infiltration along the border of Jammu and Kashmir and identification of
Pakistanis who have infiltrated to indulge in militant activities.
Asked whether India will accept Pakistan giving
voice samples to any third country, he said, "I suggested one time that don't
give it to us. Give it to a third country so that it is subjected to forensic
analysis in a third country."
On whether Pakistani army personnel were among
the handlers of the 26/11 attackers, he said, "If you are quoting from the
dossier (that India gave to Pakistan), you are quoting correctly. But I do not
know whether they are real names or assumed names."

Does the Bible predict
destruction of Saudi Arabia?
June 26, 2010
Middle-Eastern media outlets are reporting that
Israel may be about to launch a major attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Last
week, Israel Today reported that Saudi Arabia had given Israel permission to use
its airspace for an attack, and now the Iranian Fars News Agency has reported
that a squad of Israeli jets has even landed at a military airstrip in Saudi
Arabia. Could this development have any significance with regard to biblical
prophecy? I believe it could.
One of the greatest prophetic mysteries of the
Bible is the identity of a women referred to as "the Great Prostitute" found in
Revelation 17 and 18. The woman is also referred to as "Mystery Babylon." She is
initially portrayed as riding a seven-headed beast, but later this very same
beast turns on her, "devours her and burns her with
fire."

Was Jinnah's Pakistan worth the
fight?
Billy I Ahmed
June 26, 2010
MORE than half a century after the end of British
rule on the Indian subcontinent and the creation of India and Pakistan - born
through the Hindu-Muslim partition in 1947, the Muslims who opted to stay in
India are still getting a raw deal in every sphere of life. Still drowned in the
scourge of poverty and backwardness, they continue fighting the ever-haunting
spectre of communal riots and threats to their religious and cultural identity.
The sense of insecurity experienced by the Indian Muslims in the post-partition
era has compounded many times in recent years.
The man who might have made a difference was
Mohammed Ali Jinnah, known to Pakistanis as "Quaid-i-Azam", the great leader.
Jinnah was 70 years old and dying of tuberculosis when, in 1947, he became the
first governor-general of Pakistan, a country he more or less created after
breaking off from the Indian National Congress. He thought their freedom
movement was becoming increasingly pro-Hindu and chauvinist as independence
neared.

Sharia (Islamic law) Not OK in Oklahoma:
"Oklahoma State Representative Rex Duncan wants to make sure no judge ever uses

Islam, contrary to what Islamists will profess,

Islam and Sharia law have no place in America. CAIR (the Council on

One of the practices Islam embraces is that of

Kyrgyz unrest 'systematic, well
organised': HRW
June 26, 2010
The deadly inter-ethnic violence in Kyrgyzstan
this month was systematic and well-organised, Human Rights Watch said on
Saturday, urging an international inquiry into the
unrest.
The New York-based watchdog also warned that the
government's decision to proceed with a referendum on a new constitution
tomorrow risks sparking a resurgence of the violence between majority Kyrgyz and
minority Uzbeks.
"Human Rights Watch research suggests that the
violence, particularly the attacks on Uzbek neighborhoods, was systematic and,
at least in some cases, well-organised," the group said. It said that Uzbeks
were accusing government forces of participating in the attacks on their
neighbourhoods, recounting how armoured personnel carriers had been used to
remove barricades in front of their neighbourhoods.

The US film that confronts the
truth about Afghanistan
By Robert Fisk
26 Jun, 2010
LONDON: As a schoolboy, I would travel to the
Edinburgh Festival with my pal Julian Holt to watch movies. There were three
reasons for this. As a trainspotter, I wanted to take photographs of steam locos
at Waverley station. I was fascinated by cinema film – I had ambitions then to
be a film critic as well as a foreign correspondent – and I could escape from my
over-protective parents.
These were the days of Polanski’s Knife in the
Water and the French New Wave. Master Fisk, who stayed in a bleak lodging house
in the crumby port of Leith – all drunks and old ships – could even be glimpsed
occasionally in Crawford’s tea house off Princes Street, ostentatiously reading
Cahiers du Cinéma.

“Men are violent by nature. The physical

violence to religion, customs and education.
“Islam has given women rights as well as duties.
There are Qur’anic verses that mention the equality of men and women,” she

Jun 26, 2010
JOHANNESBURG: Qatar's bid to host the 2022 World
Cup is provoking a heated debate in South Africa.
Bid leader Hassan Al Thawadi says football
officials from around the world are asking him how their national teams can play
in the emirate's hot weather.
A Qatari World Cup would be played from June 3 to
July 3 and temperatures this week hit 43 degrees Celsius (109
Fahrenheit).
It's been 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) at 9:30 p.m.
local time when late matches — including the final — would kick
off.
Al Thawadi says Qatar will show FIFA a prototype
in September of a solar-powered stadium cooling system that will regulate the
air inside venues.
FIFA will choose the 2022 World Cup host in
December.

Several thousand Egyptians
protest police abuse
By SARAH EL DEEB
Jun 26, 2010
ALEXANDRIA, Egypt : Several thousand Egyptians,
joined by top opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei, protested on Friday what they
call authorities' systematic use of torture in the largest demonstration yet
sparked by the alleged beating death of a young man by police this
month.
The death of Khaled Said has become a rallying
point for pro-reform activists and rights workers who say police abuse is
rampant, made possible by a three-decade-old emergency
law.
“It's a clear-cut message to the regime that the
Egyptian people are sick and tired of practices that are inhumane,” said
ElBaradei after the protest.

ElBaradei leads big Egypt
anti-torture protest
26 June 2010
ALEXANDRIA, Egypt - Potential Egyptian
presidential candidate Mohamed ElBaradei led thousands of people on Friday in an
anti-torture protest that analysts said was significant for joining disparate
groups in a common cause.
Around 4,000 people, representing varied
political views, and many ordinary citizens greeted ElBaradei, 68, the former
nuclear inspector, as he visited the port city of Alexandria to offer
condolences to the family of Khaled Mohammed Said, an Egyptian who rights groups
say was beaten to death by police.
The protest, ElBaradei’s second public appearance
this month and the first in which his family joined him in public, was his
biggest rally so far. Earlier in June he visited Fayoum in a signature drive
campaign that drew some 3,500 supporters.

Force said.
It was not an attack by Taliban-linked
insurgents, Lieutenant-Commander Ian Baxter told AFP of the blast, which

For 1st time since revolution:
World contemporary art in Iran
Amir Bogen
Jun 26, 2010
After 32 years, even ayatollahs aware of hunger
for openness. Picasso, Giacometti, many others from Tehran museum's collection
on display
Thirty-two years have passed since the Islamic
Revolution – 32 years of religious repression and withdrawal from western
culture. But in the last couple of years something is happening below the
surface. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad senses the people's hunger for greater
openness to the world, and even the ayatollahs can’t stop the internet flood
that breaks through the cultural firewall.
It seems someone in the regime has understood
that some steam needs to be released – via art, among other things. The
country's museums, including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, have
displayed only Islamic art which supports the spirit of the regime and doesn't
expose too much of the West's creative riches.
