Revenge attack: Suicide bomb toll climbs to 36 in Hangu, Pakistan-------- Yemen hurtling towards civil war,40 killed May 27, 2011 Sanaa: More than 40 Yemenis were killed in pitched street battles in the capital on Thursday as fighting aimed at ending President Ali Abdullah Salehs threedecade-long rule threatened to ignite civil war. Residents were hurriedly strapping furniture,stoves,baby cots and other possessions to the roofs of cars and trucks and streaming out of Sanaa by the thousands,hoping to escape the violence that has killed more than 80 people since Monday. The fighting,pitting the security forces of President Saleh against members of the countrys most powerful Hashed tribe led by Sadiq al-Ahmar,was the bloodiest Yemen has seen since protests began in January. The defence ministry said 28 people were killed in an explosion in an arms storage area of Sanaa on Thursday. Fighters in civilian clothes roamed some districts and machine gun fire rang out sporadically. A pick-up vehicle crossed the district police office in the town of Hangu,police official Latif Khan said,before exploding at a barrier outside the city police station,creating a 10ft long and footdeep crater. The buildings housing the police station,DPO office and nearby residence of the DPO were partially damaged but at least 15 shops,including a tea house and a restaurant,are completely razed,"he said. Regional police spokesman Fazal Naeem feared most of those killed were policemen and predicted that the toll would rise,because there are offices and residences of senior police and administration officials near the attack site. She assured a delegation of Muslims that she will look into the issue of blasphemy allegedly committed by Diamond Comics and see that action is taken in three or four days. Asked if she would get the editor of the said publication arrested she said that so far she had not seen the proof but now that she has she will take necessary action in the next 3-4 days. The issue of Diamond Comics having published photographs and blasphemous statements about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was presented to the Chief Minister of Delhi for her follow up. A memorandum in this effect was also handed over to her asking her to take action against the publisher and editor of the said comics. Maulana Shah ul Hameed, Director Islami Taalimi Board of India, informed her that “they had demonstrated on Jantar Mantar as well on 17th of May 11. The said editor is misguiding the people and the police, saying the Comics to be of 2008.
