By Dr. Zafar Darak Qasmi, New Age Islam 30 January 2025 ‘Sri Krishna Jeevan’ is an ever- green work on the biography of the sacred deity of Hinduism Sri Krishna. Astonishingly, the book has been written by a Muslim mystic known as Khwaja Hassan Nizami. Being a laureate of Urdu, the author has composed the book in a very eloquent language. Khwaja Hassan Nizami ------ It should be noted that Khwaja Sahib was a Muslim Sufi. Hence, the impartiality employed by the writer is not only worth importance, but sends a message of solidarity and goodwill to the society. Though the target of the book was Muslims, but people of every religion and belief can benefit from it. There is no any other parallel book in Urdu of this style and glory. Every corner of Sri Krishna’s life has been recorded with such excellence and simplicity that even people of little knowledge can access to it easily. A careful reading of this book suggests that this book should be included in the curriculum of Madrasas. Even school students must be made acquainted with such books to instil in them a sense of respect and regard for the leaders of other religions which seems to be missing in them. In a plural society like India, the writing of such a book by a Muslim strengthens the spirit of Ganga-Jamani civilization and national unity. India has been a hub of spirituality since long. Its precedents may not be found in any other part of the world. This land has always been enriched by great Sufis and thinkers. But, the majority of people in India are Hindus. Hence, the composition of such a book by a Muslim scholar on the life of a Hindu leader becomes doubly important. By this book, the Muslims community of India will be able to know the real life of Sri Krishna and their minds will not doubt about them. Today, many troubles are being created in society on the basis of suspicion, ignorance, prejudice and narrow-mindedness. Such books certainly plays a fundamental role in removing misconceptions from society. It is not right to criticize Sri Krishna or any religious leader on the basis of unreliable sources. If this book is read without any kind of prejudice, it will certainly have a beneficial effect on society. Hatred and misunderstandings will be effectively removed, an atmosphere of harmony and tolerance will be created in society. The purpose and intention of writing this book is also to remove the misconceptions that have developed among Hindus and Muslims regarding Sri Krishna and the relations between the two nations will remain pleasant. It is a truth that when respect and sanctity of each other's religion and distinguished personalities are ensured in the society, it is inevitably easy to form the society on righteous and healthy lines. The great tragedy of today is that misunderstandings and hatred are spreading in society regarding religions. The reason for this is that we say something inappropriate without reading a religion and without understanding its spirit and teachings. Therefore, to maintain social and intellectual harmony and balance, it is necessary that we read religions and become fully familiar with their teachings and instructions, traditions and guidelines so that our words, actions, character and deeds do not hurt anyone. Following the example of Khwaja Hassan Nizami, even today, Muslim scholars and intellectuals should introduce Hindu religious and spiritual personalities in Urdu in large numbers and reach Muslim institutions and neighbourhoods so that the number of people with positive thoughts in society can increase. Similarly, there is a great need to highlight the religious books of Hinduism and their teachings so that positive thinking and ideology can flourish in society. Hatred can be eradicated. If small booklets are prepared and published, then its beneficial effects will be felt in the society very soon. Similarly, Hindu scholars should also write about Islam with their own pen and convey it to the Hindu people and youth so that the things that have been spread about Islam can be eradicated and those who are earning their political bread by cultivating hatred in the society can close their shops. It is absolutely true that no religion is against humanity nor does it teach its followers to be harsh or cruel. Therefore, those who are instigating violence in the society in the name of religion, regardless of their religion, the correct thing is that they are neither sincere for their religion nor for the society in which they live. Therefore, one should not curse the religion of an individual because of his mistake. Another message of Khwaja Hassan Nizami's book Krishna Jeevan is that such literature will also curb Islamophobia in a pluralistic and pluralistic society like India and will also strengthen the bond of brotherhood and love between the two nations.
