Politicians use religious affiliations and sentiments to secure votes and support during elections, exploiting the deep-rooted beliefs and emotions of the electorate. 6. Despite the noble intentions of many religions, they have been vulnerable to manipulation by those seeking to further their own agendas. 7. Fundamentally, religions remain a double-edged sword that may be used for both enlightenment and exploitation due to its enormous influence on human beliefs and behaviours. In order to create a more just and equitable world, it is imperative that people interact critically with religious teachings and practices, challenging manipulation and opposing all forms of exploitation. It is essential to recognize the signs pertaining to abuse of religion and to take action to prevent it from occurring. This includes promoting awareness and education about healthy religious practices, fostering open communication within religious communities, and holding abusers accountable for their actions. Victims of this abuse should be provided with support and resources to heal from the trauma they have experienced.
