The universe which was created by Allah, the Almighty on His order كن فيكون (Kun Fa Yakoon, Be, and It is) is revolving on the axis of love, on the directions of 'Rahmatul Lil Alameen' as the Prophet is the sum total of all the love and peace in the world. Had there not been peace and love, there may not have been this world. And the love we are talking about is called 'Ishq-e-Haqiqi', love for God. People who tread the Righteous Path are the people who live a life according to the rules framed by Allah and revealed to the last Prophet in the form of the Holy Book, the Quran.
Love is peace and hatred is war. Love always wins, hatred always is defeated. Till there is love for God, there is peace on the earth. The day love for God will vanish, will be the Day of the Judgment. People of the genre of Ishq-e-Haqueequi', love for God will be rewarded and people with hatred will be punished, as Allah, the ultimate judge will judge all the acts of love and hatred as per His principles of righteous path. Muslims are believers in Allah and His servants, in one form or the other. Allah testifies all His believers, not in the same fashion but through different examinations. A Muslim knows the harshest the difficulties the most enjoyable the results. When a Muslim says, all that Allah does has a good messages hidden in it and does not lose patience, Allah rewards him with all that he wishes, in one form or the other. This also signals the love for God and the blind faith in Him.
'Ishq-e-Haqiqi' is the Sign of a True Believer
They say that ‘Love is Blind’ and to a certain extent in Ishq-e-Majazi, love for God’s creatures, love makes a person blind to all the practicalities and one ceases to see the true self of the person concerned and is ultimately, in most of the cases, deceived. But, in 'Ishq-e-Haqiqi' the true self of one's beloved, the God, is in front of you clear as daylight. One knows all the qualities of one's beloved, the God, and falls in love with Him. If one is a true believer one has to love the creator, who has created him. This is divine love which has no boundaries. Allah acknowledges the love of His true believers and says in the holy Quran:
وَالَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلّٰہِ
Those Who Believe Are Stronger In Love For Allah. (Translation Sahih International)
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ
And He is the All-Forgiving, All-Loving- Quran: 85:14)/Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
We, human beings, carry loads of negativities, called desires, wishes and ego. These are the negativities which create hurdles and make us overcome our angelic characteristics and come under the influence of the power of the devil. One among us under the influence of devilish wishes and ego, although a believer, does not taste the fruit of Ishq-e-Haqiqi', love for God and roam in the dark jungles of ego, without end. Killing these negativities is called being in love with God.
No Love Lasts Other the Divine Love
Ishq-e-Majazi, love for God’s creatures, is in every heart. Ishq-e-Majazi is not categorised as the love between two different sexes only but it is love for God’s creatures, meaning thereby love with family members, love with neighbours, love with kids and love with anybody or anything created by Allah. This love has its ups and downs. It may be on an extreme level or may be just a liking. Its ups and downs make it vulnerable and take away the value of its being stable and permanent. Hence, the stories of break-ups. This is a love which can be the reason for one's immense suffering and pain. It can take away lives or kill every joy of life. In the worldly love there is mostly a relationship of give and take on an almost equal level, otherwise the balance dwindles and love falls apart.
'Ishq-e-Haqiqi', Love for God, is a totally mesmerising feeling and experience. There is no love lost in this love. There is no break-up and hence no pain and no suffering. This love empowers one to get over all the emotions of pain and brings joyful experiences.
Allah has created this world for human beings, with worldly characteristics. Human beings are not angels, who are always busy in worship to God, although some of us are very close to God through the power of our human characteristics, which has all the traits of an angel as well as a devil. The firm believers in God have the traits of an angel and worship God in the atmosphere of many negative waves surrounding them; so Allah bestows upon them the reward of being closer to Him.
Allah Himself says in the holy Quran:
As for those who strive for Us, We will definitely guide them to Our paths and (then surely you will see that) Allah is with the doers of good. (Qur’an 29:69)
The above mentioned Ayat indicates that Allah always answers to the calls of the people who love him without any demand or expectation, just for His qualities.
Sufi Scholars Rumi and Rabia-Al-Basri on 'Ishq-e-Haqiqi'
“Listen, open a window to God and begin to delight yourself by gazing upon Him through the opening.” - Rumi
“When the Beloved would exalt the lover, He strips from him the garments collected from all the worlds, and clothes him in the robe of His own attributes. Then the Beloved calls him by all his own attributes. Then the Beloved calls him by all his own names, and seats him in his own place. When the lover studies his new clothes he finds himself arrayed in different colors, and will wonder ‘what is this beautiful tint, this garment so unique?’” - Divine Flashes
"If I love thee for fear of hell/Put me in the fires of hell/If I love thee for the sake of heaven/Deprive me of bliss for all time/My love for thee is thine alone/I yearn for thy communion / Withhold not thy everlasting beauty from me." - Rabia-Al-Basri
The above-mentioned quotes of the Sufi scholars define what ‘Ishq-e-Haqiqi’ is. Rumi says it opens the window to God and the believer is dressed up in the attributes of Allah and Allah calls His true believers by His own name. These are extraordinary rewards of Love for God, that is Ishq-e-Haqiqi’.
And Allah Knows the Best
