Radical Islamism and Jihad
Radical Islam and America's Future
By James Simpson
January 1 2009

Political Islam, i.e. radical Islam, is actually a cutout for continued communist aggression against the West. This is perhaps the most justifiable explanation for the resurgence of radical Islam in recent years, though it receives scant recognition.

We knew this to be true back in the 1970s and 1980s, when the communist-inspired PLO began its operations against Israel. We knew that Hezbollah and the other Muslim terrorist organizations got their training, weapons and support from Syria - a Ba'athist (Stalinist Arab Communist Party) country. We knew by extension that Syria, like all Soviet client states, was acting on behalf of the Soviet Union.

But after the Soviet Union "fell" in the 1990s, suddenly we were confronted with "Muslim" terrorism. Still the same actors, still the same support networks, still the same tactics, yet now it was supposedly a dire new threat. And if you think horrific public killings and suicide bombings – even using children – are an Islamic invention, ask anyone who served in Vietnam. Communist tactics, all.

If you listen to statements from jihadists like Osama Bin Laden, their justification for war against the West is based on the same tired slogans repeated by leftists since the 1930s, i.e. that America and its allies are "imperialist," "greedy capitalists" "exploiting" the rest of the world, yada yada, only now it is the Muslim world we are supposedly oppressing.

Mr. Obama, Don’t confuse Islam with separatism, Islam and the West, NewAgeIslam.com

Islam and the West
Mr. Obama, Don’t confuse Islam with separatism
By Olivier Roy and Justin Vaisse
December 22, 2008

Recently aides have said he may give a speech from a Muslim capital in his first 100 days. His hope, he has said, is to "make clear that we are not at war with Islam," to describe to Muslims "what our values and our interests are" and to "insist that they need to help us to defeat the terrorist threats that are there." This idea of trying to reconcile Islam and the West is well-intentioned, of course. But the premise is wrong.

Such an initiative would reinforce the all-too-accepted but false notion that "Islam" and "the West" are distinct entities with utterly different values. Those who want to promote dialogue and peace between "civilizations" or "cultures" concede at least one crucial point to those who, like Osama bin Laden, promote a clash of civilizations: that separate civilizations do exist. They seek to reverse the polarity, replacing hostility with sympathy, but they are still following Osama bin Laden's narrative.

Instead, Obama, the first "post-racial" president, can do better. He can use his power to transform perceptions to the long-term advantage of the U.S. The page he should try to turn is not that of a supposed war between America and Islam, but the misconception of a monolithic Islam being the source of the main problems on the planet: terrorism, wars, nuclear proliferation, insurgencies and the like.

Radical Islamism and Jihad
If Dr. Zakir Naik , a supporter of Osama bin Laden, calls Yazeed Rahmatullah Alaih, what about Narendra Modi and Togariya…? Asks Urdu Daily Sahafat, Delhi
By Aman Abbas, Daily Sahafat, Delhi

ou must have heard BJP leader Mr. Advani claiming on TV channels: We don’t say that all Muslims are terrorists are Muslims, but this is also true that all terrorists are Muslims.” Such statements derive strengths from the type of statements people like Dr. Zakir Naik make. Dr. Naik openly says in his speeches freely available in English CDs: If Osama bin Laden is terrorising America, we are with him and every Muslim should be a terrorist.” This is the person who calls Yazeed, the Fasiq, Fajir and Maloon in Islamic gatherings Rahmatullah Alaih. Still some self-serving Muslims stand up in his defence…. If you can say that about some one who killed the family of Prophet Mohammad, then what about Narendra Modi and Togariya…? ….

We should be understand that we are living in a multi-cultural society like India, where double standards may be acceptable and can work, but Islam calls for purity of means as much as aims. …

We would like to appeal to Muslim intellectuals that they should come out and apprise our countrymen of the curious fact that this supporter of Osama bin Laden is not only travelling in the West freely on visas granted by Western countries but also receives funding freely from citizens of these countries in an atmosphere in which it has become very difficult for ordinary Muslims to get visas. ……

A new strategy in the hunt for Bin Laden, War on Terror, NewAgeIslam.com

War on Terror
A new strategy in the hunt for Bin Laden

In interviews, the officials attributed their failure to find Bin Laden to an overreliance on military force, disruptions posed by the war in Iraq and a pattern of underestimating the enemy. Above all, they said, the search has been handicapped by an inability to develop informants in Pakistan's isolated tribal regions, where Bin Laden is believed to be hiding.

With CIA officers and U.S. Special Forces prevented from operating freely in Pakistan, the search is taking place mostly from the air. The Predators, equipped with multiple cameras that transmit live video via satellite, have launched their Hellfire missiles against four targets in the past month alone. Since January, the reconnaissance drones have killed two senior Al-Qaida leaders with $5 million bounties on their heads.

Still, debate persists among both U.S. and Pakistani officials over the merits of this aggressive approach, which has resulted in higher civilian casualties and strained diplomatic relations. "Making more effort and flailing are different things," said a senior Pakistani security official.

War on Terror
Was America Attacked by Muslims on 9/11?
By Professor David Ray Griffin

One might, to be sure, rationalize this behaviour by supposing that these were momentary lapses and that, as 9/11 approached, these young Muslims had repented and prepared for heaven. But in the days just before 9/11, Atta and others were reported to be drinking heavily, cavorting with lap dancers, and bringing call girls to their rooms. Temple University Professor Mahmoud Ayoub said: "It is incomprehensible that a person could drink and go to a strip bar one night, then kill themselves the next day in the name of Islam. . . . Something here does not add up."5

In spite of the fact that these activities were reported by mainstream newspapers and even the Wall Street Journal editorial page,6 the 9/11 Commission wrote as if these reports did not exist, saying: "we have seen no credible evidence explaining why, on [some occasions], the operatives flew to or met in Las Vegas."7

2. Do Authorities Have Hard Evidence of Osama bin Laden's Responsibility for 9/11?

Whatever be the truth about the devoutness of the hijackers, one might reply, there is certainly no doubt about the fact that they were acting under the guidance of Osama bin Laden. The attack on Afghanistan was based on the claim that bin Laden was behind the attacks, and the 9/11 Commission's report was written as if there were no question about this claim. But neither the Bush administration nor the Commission provided any proof for it.

War on Terror
‘Osama driver knew 9/11 target’

Hamdan’s lawyer said in opening statements that the Yemeni, held for nearly seven years before his trial, was just a paid employee of the fugitive al Qaeda leader, a driver in the motor pool who never joined the militant group or plotted attacks on America. But prosecutor Timothy Stone told the six-member jury of U.S. military officers who will decide Hamdan’s fate that Hamdan had inside knowledge of the 2001 attacks on the United States because he had overheard a conversation between bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

“Virtually no one knew the intended target [of the fourth plane], but the accused knew,” Stone said. United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field in rural Pennsylvania. U.S. officials have never stated it was shot down although rumours saying that abound to this day.

Bin Ladens, done that, Current affairs, NewAgeIslam.com

Current affairs
Bin Ladens, done that
By Soutik Biswas

One of the family members, as we all know by now, was very different. Osama Bin Laden, one of the 54 children of the paterfamilias and infrastructure tsar, Mohammed Bin Laden, began as a shy, unassuming, courteous and religious child and ended up exporting global jihad. But as Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Steve Coll shows in his amazingly well researched The Bin Ladens, Osama, one of his father’s 25 sons, was also an ardent globaliser, hiring fighters from all over the world to set up the al-Qaeda, sending them all over the world to fight his infidel enemies, and using the media cannily to get his message across.

In Coll’s book, the Bin Ladens emerge as a product of globalisation, a potent mix of a vast and rich family with its conservative and liberal wings, growing up and operating in a schizoid political and social environment in oil-rich Saudi Arabia. Thanks to Osama, the family name today spits out a staggering nearly 26 million results on Google, but the story of the family’s diversity, resilience and flair for networking with men of power and pelf around the world is truly remarkable.
