By Sumit Paul, New Age Islam 20 August 2022 There's No Hue And Cry over Two Cases of Religious Exclusivity Involving Christians ----- In these fissiparous times when Hindus and Muslims are under scanner for their escalating fanaticism, the rabid religiosity of Christianity gets snowed under the avalanche of hateful crimes, perpetrated by these two aggressive communities. But, there's no hue and cry over two cases of religious exclusivity involving Christians who hail from Tamil Nadu. In the first case, a Christian headmistress refused to salute the Tricolour arguing that except for god, she won't salute anyone else. And in the second episode, one Christian teacher unfurled the flag with a note: Jesus, bless the country. Mind you, both are teachers. What rubbish values they inculcate in the minds of their pupils? Only their Jesus knows! Had a Muslim refused to sing Vande Matram, he'd have been branded a traitor. But here, a Christian headmistress is so adamant about her Christian beliefs that she refuses to salute the flag. Yet, there's not much reaction. Agreed, Christians don't resort to blatantly violent activities, but they're also religious zealots, albeit in a 'refined' manner. Once I taught at a Seminary of Biblical Studies in western India. They initially requested me to teach Comparative Religions but soon they subtly started suggesting that I should teach Comparative Religions with respect to Christianity and not only that, with an emphasis on a specific sect of Christianity that would enable its followers to attain Salvation! Disgusted, I told the authority that I just came to teach religions and not highlight any specific Christian sect. I didn't teach there. If Muslims are known for their flagrant ways, Christians are known for their insidious activities. The proselytising activities of Islam are condemned but the rampant cases of clandestine conversion of tribal, poor people and needy ones to Christianity by the cunning missionaries often go unreported. What have been missionaries doing in the North East or in the poor districts of Orissa? Visit Ahmednagar, known as the Miniature Yerusalem of India, in Maharashtra. Every third person, mostly from backward class, is a Christian, having names such as William Korde or Shakespeare Bhong! I've come across Christians who're so obsessed with their PUTATIVE Jesus that to them (Christians), only Jesus is the true god and all other gods and deities are false. In fact, Christianity is so disdainful of other faiths and their gods that according to the Bible, King James Version ( KJV also called KJB, King James Bible, commissioned in 1604 and published in 1611 for the church of England), only the Christian god is God and others (esp. Pagan deities) are gods. Christian God must be written in upper case and other gods in lower case. So, now when you write God and not god, remember, you're unknowingly succumbing to the God of the Bible and genuflecting before it. Writing God is not a grammatical compulsion, it's a Biblical diktat which the world has been following unknowingly for centuries. Stop writing God. You're unwittingly concurring with the edicts of Christianity. That apart, Christians openly laugh at Hindu gods and goddesses and call their Jesus as the Sole ( and also soul) Saviour of Mankind. My foot! They concocted Trinity (the garbage of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost) which's a Semitic theo-manifestation of Hinduism's Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. It's time to book these Christians as well for their subterranean religious activities and insulting the Tricolour. ----- A regular columnist for New Age Islam, Sumit Paul is a researcher in comparative religions, with special reference to Islam.
