ISIS's Attack Proves Its Desperation Main Points: 1. 2 people, one Sikh and one Taliban member were killed in the attack. 2. Attacking innocent pilgrims in a Gurudwara is a terrorist act. 3. The ISIS is a group of criminals. ----- By New Age Islam Staff Writer 21 June 2022 Two people were killed and at least seven others injured in the attack. ----- The Terrorist Attack on A Gurudwara Karte Parwan in Kabul Afghanistan has once again demonstrated the desperation of the ISIS. The attack resulted in the killing of two people, one Sikh and one Taliban member on 19 June, 2022. The ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks and tried to justify it by saying that the attacks were in response to the blasphemous remarks against the prophet of Islam. However, the attacks on Sikhs and the Hindus in Afghanistan by the ISIS or the Taliban are not new. In March 2020, a suicide bomber affiliated to the ISIS-Haqqani Network had attacked Gurudwara Har Rai Saheb in Kabul. 25 people were killed and 8 were injured. In 2018, the ISIS had attacked a Sikh congregation in Jalalabad and claimed responsibility. Then it had said that the attacks were in response to Indian government's action in Kashmir. In March 2020, the ISIS had attacked the swearing in ceremony of Ashraf Ghani. One of the militants arrested after the attacked was found to be associated with Pakistan's ISI. Sikh Group Marks One Year Of Attack On Gurudwara In Kabul, Pays Tribute To Lost Lives/ Photo: Outlook ----- The role of Pakistan's ISI cannot, therefore, be ruled out in the recent Gurudwara attack. Pakistan's policy of strategic depth in Afghanistan has had a setback as after coming to power with the help of Pakistan and the US, the Taliban have refused to kowtow before Pakistan and have made overtures to India. The ISIS's argument in favour of the attack was that it was in response to the remarks made against the prophet does not hold water because in 2018, it had said that it attacked Sikhs because the Indian government persecuted Kashmiris in the Jammu and Kashmir. In both the cases Afghan Sikhs and Hindus were not involved. Islam does not approve of killing innocent people for the fault of others. The remarks have been made by two politicians of India and they will be prosecuted under the blasphemy law of India. The Muslims of India have condemned the remarks and peacefully protested against it and demanded legal action against them. Islamic countries have taken diplomatic steps over the issue. Attacking a Gurudwara and the members of the Sikh community in Afghanistan cannot be justified from any angle under the Islamic law. It's an act of terrorism and a crime against humanity. The Quran has categorically said that killing an innocent person is akin to killing the entire humanity and saving an innocent person is akin to saving the entire humanity. How can the ISIS justify the killing of a Muslim who was killed in the attack on the Gurudwara? The Quran also says that no one will bear the burden (of the sins or crimes) of others. How can innocent Sikhs or Hindus of Afghanistan or of any country for that matter be killed for the persecution of Kashmiris in India? This is the same line of thought of some Hindutva groups in India who 'punish' Muslims of India for the alleged persecution of Hindus by Muslim kings centuries ago. How can the ISIS claim to be different from them? By killing innocent minorities in a Muslim majority country, the ISIS have committed blasphemy against the holy prophet. The security and protection of the minorities of a Islamic country is the religious responsibility of the Islamic government and according to the Quran, the ISIS are a group of Mufsideen (rioters) because they are not a part of the government and have been committing Fasad in violation of the law of the country and in violation of the principles of the Quran. According to the law laid down by the Quran, they should be either summarily executed or their hands and legs should be amputated from the opposite sides. Will the Taliban that claims to follow sharia punish the ISIS militants in this way? The attacks seem more to be a result of political and diplomatic discomfiture of Pakistan vis a vis India's growing influence in Afghanistan. The relations of Pakistan with Afghan Taliban are on a down slide since Afghan came to power in Afghanistan last August. The TTP, a militant outfit that shares the ideology of Taliban has intensified militancy in Pakistan during the last ten months. 170 attacks have been carried out in Pakistan by the TTP militants from September 2021 to May 2022. About 10,000 TTP terrorists have been taking shelter in Afghanistan's areas bordering Pakistan. Pakistan has been asking Taliban to flush out the TTP militants from its land and crackdown on them but the Taliban have showed a soft approach to them. The Taliban is more interested in brokering peace between them and Pakistan. On the other hand, the Taliban have demonstrated a willingness to work with India in trade and security fields. On June 2, a delegation of India's external Affairs Ministry met Afghan Minister in Kabul, Mulla Yaqub, the son of Mulla Omar and talked on various issues including bilateral trade. The Indian delegation had visited Afghanistan to oversee the delivery of humanitarian assistance in the country. During a press briefing the Afghanistan Minister was asked if his government would be interested to send Afghan soldiers to India for military training, he said that his government was willing to send its soldiers to India for training. It should be noted that before Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, India trained Afghan security personnel in counter-terrorism, jungle warfare, signals, intelligence gathering and information technology. MOI, Afghanistan shared a video in which the Taliban officials can be seen meeting Afghan Sikhs at Gurudwara and holding a discussion (Screenshot) ------ On February 4, 2022, the Afghan embassy had said that 80 young Afghan cadets who recently graduated from Indian military academies had been offered a 12-month training course in effective English communication for business and economic co-operation programme. The Afghan government lauded India's offer. India has also tried to rehabilitate the officers and security personnel of Afghanistan associated with the previous government who are afraid of returning to Afghanistan due to fear of persecution by the current Taliban government because of their loyalty to the previous government. The Taliban government have assured them that they will welcome them in their new government. It is also important that the Taliban government did not take a harsh stand against India on the issue of remarks against the prophet. This was a hint that the Taliban do not want to antagonise India at a time it has been beleaguered by a number of problems on national and international level. This is the cause of a heart burn for Pakistan. The attacks on the Gurudwara in Kabul two weeks after the visit of the Indian delegation to Afghanistan speaks of this heart burn. The ISIS who were hailed by a section of imprudent Islamic organisations and scholars as the flag bearers of caliphate have turned into a group of mercenaries who sometimes fight for Turkey's Erdogan in Azerbaijan, sometimes for Russia's Putin in Ukraine and sometimes by Pakistan in Afghanistan. The ISIS's terrorist activities in the name of Islam, therefore, strongly condemned by the Muslims.
